A Very Good Year

Christmas is once again around the corner, and I really like this website for its easy to do, DIY stuff: designspongeonline

For those of us who are lazy / not good at crafting, a good friend of mine is very adept in Gift Card making :) Check her cards out here.

They only put out the Top-Notch Fires.

1. Studs in close up. I want some too! Not the shiny Gold Kind, but the hardcore silver heavy weightage kind.
2. I love black in its manifold textures, especially the black shreds of shiny cloth peeking out of the jacket.
3. Look at the Poufy Black Thing emerging from the grey-ish dress. So cute!
4. I wonder whether it would be constricting to walk with all those ropes around you. But that wouldn't stop me from trying :)
5. Love the texture of the skirt.
6. Layering: I wish I could do more of this, without feeling like a popsicle out in the sun.
7. Shiny shiny, everything's happy.

8. I like the studded shoes & the pops of blue among the black.

I've had no inspiration lately, very bored with the wardrobe. I think it needs a revival!

Did you see those Hans? They popped out of the snow! like daisies!

Charbao & Dory came over tonight. We went to get turkish food then tried to (and failed miserably) borrow DVDs from Video Ezy.
So, we walked home to watch 1) Ace Ventura: Pet Detective and 2) Rugrats, which was promptly changed to 3) Mulan when I was in the shower.

I kept mumbling to myself: 'This tutu skirt is nice!'
& this cricket is super cute :)

SATC: La Douleur Exquise

Samantha: What are you wearing? The invitation said kinky.

Charlotte: I kinked my hair!

The Clothes On Their Backs by Linda Grant

' Let me tell you a secret - now don't repeat this to your father, I'm only telling you because it's a special day. It wasn't Ervin I met first in his family, it was his terrible brother. He walked past me when I was in a cafe with some girlfriends and he tipped his hat, just like that. Not at the others, at me. My stick was leaning against the table so it wasn't a mistake. He knew. I was so surprised and blushing, but he came over and asked me to join him the next day for an ice-cream. Well, you know, no one had ever paid any attention to me before in that way, so I turned up. Why not? It was an adventure for me. All by myself, I went, I was eighteen. '

' Where was this? '

' Oh, a cafe along the river where you could sit out and eat ices and look at Buda on the other side and the boats sailing along. Now after only a few minutes even an innocent could see that he was a bad man, a womaniser, not for me at all, but then who should turn up but Ervin and he introduced us, and the Ervin - well. '

' So you knew Sandor before Daddy? '

' Yes, only a day. But I have to admit, if I never met him, then I never met your father, and where would you be now, eh? '

' Nowhere. '

' Exactly. '

' And then of course Ervin had the sense to bring us out of Hungary in the nick of time. Sandor has no such sense. '

' What was he like? '

' Ugly, but very attractive at the same time. Look, he was a pimp, he knew how to talk to women. '

' Why do you think he tipped his hat to you and asked you for ice-cream? '

' I don't know. He is a complicated person. '

' What did you see in Daddy? '

' He had beautiful eyes. Even under his glasses. The eyes of a man who looks. '

Dragging my feet to school.

Its one of those days when you're not fully recovered, but not feeling sick; and you feel this immense inertia to stay on the couch, when you should be going to school for patho tutorial.
(which may I add, I haven't read up on. horrors !!)

And then you discover this on your livejournal page, which is very nice:

Trust Me. The Fray.

Looking for something I've never seen
Alone and I'm in between.
The place that I'm from and the place that I'm in
A city I've never been.
I found a friend or should I say, foe
Said there's a few things you should know.
We don't want you to see, we come and we go
Here today, gone tomorrow.

We're only taking turns, holding this world.
It's how it's always been; when you're older you will understand

If I say who I know it just goes to show, you need me less than I need you.
Take it from me we don't give sympathy
You can trust me, trust nobody
But I said you and me, we don't have honesty
The things we don't want to speak.
I'll try to get out but I never will
Traffic is perfectly still

We're only taking turns, holding this world.
It's how it's always been; when you're older you will understand

And again maybe you don't
And again maybe you won't

When you're older
You might understand
When you're older
You might understand

the clothes, on our backs.

I went to the library today! Sounds so geeky (and probably is), but yay :)
I was breaking in my recent shoe #1, and traipsing around trying to find the Adults section. Upon discovering it was on the first floor, and bypassing this couple sitting on the corner on the floor (& blocking my access to GAR-GRA) I finally managed to borrow The Clothes On Their Backs. So am happy, because I wanted to buy it & it would cost me 34 dollars (?!). Also borrowed The Quest and On Beauty (which I have had no time to read although I wanted to like 1 year ago. so pathetic right.)

I secretly like Egyptian myths and quests. I suspect I may like it more than, say Midnight's Children. Horrors.

Am reluctant to go to school tomorrow. I think its a mixture of reluctance and plain laziness. Sometimes I wish I could teleport, just like mmm. What Hero teleports?

Anyway, Google Reader my trusted friend has drawn my attention to the H&M lookbook for 2009 (which is round the corner, again! time is passing too fast.)

now only if it weren't so Hot here every other day, and raining on the days that are not hot, i think we could wear so much more. alot of camel, pink, white and black, very nice. H&M please, please come to our shores & bring some fringe things too.

all of this is more than i've ever known, or seen.

At long last, i am satisfied with the layout.
I want to go to the library, i think my soul needs a good book.
Speaking of good books, i have yet to finish Midnight's Children. Perhaps that will be on my list of things to do.
Okay hen hao. My parents fly off to Israel next week, and once again, I'll be the mistress of the house.

The Drop Crotch & the Bold Shoulder.

i'm wearing monochrome alot these days, don't have the mood for colour.
still on the lookout for drop crotches + bold shoulder blazers etc.
and more shoes, of course.

on a sidenote: you know its prom season / christmas when the department stores are stocked with strappy shoes replete with sequins, ribbons, jewels of every shape and colour.

she's always dancing just like neon, neon.

the exams are finally over! i thought the papers today were alright, and after the COFM paper we went to Zam Zam to eat, followed by a jaunt at Haji lane.

Haji lane is not what it was! House Of Japan was been taken over by random person + worker, and VictoriaJomo's prices have increased! Bugis Village proved fruitless, and reinforced the fact that i need to get fringe sandals!

i've read the twilight series of books, and found this pretty funny. (watch for the weird face! ahurhur.)
http://gawker.com/5095445/twilight-stars-letterman-disaster-funniest-moments
anyhow, i still find the black jewels trilogy nicer. and i still want to read other random things.

there is no sense of joy or relief at the end of exams. i just feel like, there's alot of things to do and finish.

anyway, i keep going back to this shoe i see online. i would have bought it already, save for the fact that if i did, i'd probably get kicked out of the house for buying shoes again. not that i've alot, fyi.

the shoe is still saying "hello, buy me!"

grey's should like, kill izzie's denny storyline and izzie's screentime.
seriously you know, never felt so frustrated watching an episode as i did this week's one.
but the saving grace?
sitting on the doorstep and being quiet.

The Ballad Of A Bitter End

Genius on iTunes is, Genius.

i'll write a book, the saddest book.
And it will be our story, the ballad of a bitter end.

Norman Parkinson Photography.

so very fabulous, don't you think.
back in the days, when lighting did the trick.

it's getting away from you, again.

this will be an outlet; for fashion for fun.
for musings, for none. for tidings that bring joy; for sorrows that take heart.
